How did you learn about your internship?

I found this international research experience for undergrads (IREU) on the NSF website. They have a search engine for NSF funded REU's.

What was the application process like?

The application was online. I answered a few essay questions about why I wanted to participate in this experience and asked two professors to write me a letter of recommendation.

What were your major tasks or projects at this internship?

I spent two and a half months in Ulm, Germany at Ulm University working in an inorganic chemistry lab. Along with the work in the lab, I will have to submit a report summarizing my work over the summer. Additionally, I will present my result at the American Chemical Society National Conference in April 2017.

Do you have any recommendations for Georgia Tech students looking to intern in the same company or country?

Be open and honest about why you want to spend nearly three months in a foreign country.

Where did you live? Did you find accomodations independently or with your company's help?

There is an international residence apartment complex 3 minutes away (walking time).

How has this internship influenced your career path?

I lived in a dorm supplied by the university.
