DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) 

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a publicly-funded independent organization of higher education institutions in Germany. Each year DAAD, its Regional Branch Offices, its Information Centers, and DAAD Professors around the globe provide information and financial support to over 120,000 highly-qualified students and faculty for international research and study per year.

Though DAAD provides many opportunities for research and study in Germany, the DAAD RISE Internship should be of particular interest to GT students.

RISE stands for Research Internships in Science and Engineering. RISE Germany offers undergraduate students from North American and British universities the opportunity to complete a summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions. Students are matched with a host university or institute according to their area of interest (biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, or a closely related field)  DAAD provides students a monthly stipend for three months to help cover living expenses.  Host universities and institutes provide housing assistance and match students with Ph.D. student mentors. US-German Internship Program


The Internship Program offers students the opportunity to become familiar with German culture through a three-month internship with a host company in different fields of the economy. As students will be working in a business environment, daily interactions with leading international firms will enable students to gain a better insight into the German economy, sharpen and improve their German language skills and engage with cross-cultural challenges helping to cultivate a better transatlantic repertoire between the United States and Germany.
