Pre-Arrival Information for F-1 & J-1 Students

Welcome to Georgia Tech!

Congratulations on being admitted to the Georgia Institute of Technology!  We are delighted that you have been admitted, and we are ready to assist you as you prepare to come to Georgia Tech.  International Student and Scholar Services, a division of the Office of International Education, is dedicated to ensuring that you have the information that you need before you travel to the United States, after you arrive, and throughout your time at Georgia Tech. It is our job to help you understand the regulations associated with your visa type, so that you are able to maintain status throughout your studies.

Below you will find information for all new international students to Georgia Tech. Please read over this information carefully before your arrival to ensure a seamless entry to the U.S. and arrival at Georgia Tech. Most new students will have access to the Pre-Arrival Checklist to help prepare you to come to Georgia Tech, but please be aware that some student populations will not have access; please review the welcome email from International Student and Scholar Services to determine whether or not you will have access. If you do not have access to the Pre-Arrival Checklist, you will find additional instructions in your welcome letter/email and elsewhere on this website.

In addition, we have created the ISSS After Arrival website to help you once you have arrived on campus. It has separate pages to explain International Student Check-In, F-1 and J-1 sessions, and calendars to help you plan your time. Click here to view the After Arrival website.
