On Campus

The Georgia Tech Department of Housing offers a variety of on-campus housing options. Please visit the Housing website for detailed information and to access the online application.

Undergraduates: New freshmen and transfer students must be accepted to Georgia Tech in order to apply for on-campus housing.  Applications received by May 1 are guaranteed a room reservation for the following academic year. Assignments for spring semester applications are made based on room availability. Although not guaranteed, GT Housing does not have a problem providing assignments for spring applicants.  Students must make a $600 deposit to their Bursar account at the time of application which includes a one-time only $80 application fee.

  • International House (I-House) is a vibrant community of world cultures, international outreach, foreign affairs, and enthusiastic students committed to a better understanding of how the world works beyond campus.

Apply to I-House at https://oie.gatech.edu/ihouse NOTE: This ThinkBig program does not allow the participant to bring in any roommates.

Graduates and students with a family: The Graduate Living Center and 10th and Home Apartments on the North Campus are designated graduate/family residential facilities. New graduate students are guaranteed housing for the academic year if they apply by June 1. Assignments for spring semester applications are made based on room availability. Although not guaranteed, GT Housing does not have a problem providing assignments for spring applicants.  Students must make a $600 deposit to their Bursar account at the time of application which includes a one-time only $80 application fee.

Undergraduate and Graduate students:  After assignments are completed students may view their room and roommate(s) information by returning to MY HOUSING, opening the current application, and clicking on “Room and Roommate(s) Info”.

Please Note:

Carefully read the Application/Cancellation Penalty Schedule and the entire contract before accepting the terms of the contract.  Depending on your classification, you may share a room with another student of the same gender. The academic year housing contract includes both fall and spring semesters.  There is NOT a fall only housing application unless prior approval is received from the Office of International Education.  Termination of your contract will incur significant financial loss.

Students who require disability accommodation should register with the Office of Disability Services.  The fall semester deadline is May 1, and the spring semester deadline is October 14.

Resources to help in your search:

CORT is a business that is able to rent furniture to international students for short or long-term periods of time. They also have a helpful apartment search at http://www.apartmentsearch.com/.

You could stay in temporary housing and walk or drive around neighborhoods near campus looking for “For Rent” or “For Lease” signs.

Helpful Hints to Assist in Your Housing Search:

  • If you are arriving early and need a place to stay during your search for housing, you can stay at a hotel in the area.
  • Many International Student Organizations at Georgia Tech assist students in finding long-term housing in Atlanta. To find out if there is a student organization that represents your home country or region, consult Georgia Tech Student Organizations with the Office of Student Involvement.
  • Contact an Apartment Locator Service (apartments are usually rented in person, but apartment locator services may assist you before you arrive). e.g. Apartment Guide
  • Refer to the GT Parking & Transportation website for maps/schedules of campus shuttles and for information on alternative transportation, including MARTA.
  • Remember to use caution and do your research regarding your rights and responsibilities as tenants. While most people offer legitimate deals, there are some out there who might see an opporunitiy to take advantage of someone who is not aware of their rights.
